Elizabeth was born about 1793. She passed away in 1866.
Birth Before 4 August 1793 • Great Oakley, Northumberland, England: This is the date of baptism. Her mother was Hannah Glithero (nee Riddle) but a father’s name does not appear in the register. Her mother Hannah had married Robert Glithero back in 1776 but we can’t be sure if Robert was Elizabeth’s father. [Hurley]
She was a 'vagabond',sleeping in the open air in Great Oakley, the parish of her birth. (Why was she homeless in the parish of her birth? Perhaps they had sent her to the workhouse , but she kept coming back??)
Age 25 — Residence 22 Oct 1818 • Northamptonshire, England: "Elizabeth Frisby alias glitheroe" convicted at the October Quarter Sessions. Crime: "an Incorrigible Rogue", sentenced to 7 years transportation. [Northamptonshire criminal register] Where does the name 'Frisby' come from??
Age 26 — Arrival 19 Jan 1820 • Sydney, New South Wales, Australia: Transported on the convict ship "Lord Wellington" : 'Elizabeth Frisby alias Glitheroe'. All arrived in good health, no deaths
Age 27 — Sent to Tasmania 22 Aug 1820: On a list of female convicts embarked on "Princess Charlotte" for the public service in Van Diemen's Land; listed as 'Elizabeth Frisbey alias Clithers' [Colonial Secretary's Papers]
Age 27 — Arrived Hobart 6 Sep 1820: The 'Princess Charlotte' ship left Sydney on August 22nd 1820 but had to return on August 30th due to bad weather. They departed once more on September 3rd and arrived in Hobart on September 6th.
Age 27 — Birth of Elizabeth's first child Elizabeth, About 1820 • Tasmania: The father is unknown, (this daughter, in her second marriage adopted the maiden name Tamplin, and she is listed as their child in John and Elizabeth's death records).
The first child with John Tamplin was John, born about 1822.
Age 29 — Residence 1822 • Australia: 1822 Convict Muster: How employed: 'Own benefit'
Age 65 — Marriage 05 Oct 1858 • Black Brush, Brighton, Tasmania, Australia, to John Tamplin (1765–1860): according to their marriage certificate he was 93 and she was 'Elizabeth Frisby' 65; he was a widower and she was a spinster, and they both marked with a cross.
Death 12 Mar 1866 • Ceres, Victoria, Australia. Death certificate: Elizabeth Tamplin age '80' (actually 72), cause of death: old age and general debility 3 weeks, born Northampton, 42 years in Tasmania, 6 yrs in Victoria, parents not known, married to John Tamplin age about 32 Tasmania, informant is her daughter Elizabeth Quinn of Ceres.
Children Listed in Elizabeth's death certificate with their ages: Elizabeth 46, John 44, James 42. Jane deceased, Hannah 38, William 36, Sarah 34, Eliza 32
