Elizabeth Glover was born in Prescot, Lancashire sometime between about 1787 and 1796. She was the daughter of William Glover.
Elizabeth married ? Dutton.
Elizabeth married Joseph Stanley on 12 Oct 1840 at St Helens Chapel of Ease in the parish of Prescot, Lancashire. Both were above age (21 or older) and widowed. Joseph was a watchmaker living in Eccleston. Their fathers were named as James Stanley and William Glover. The witnesses were Peter Penketh and Ellen Penketh.
By June 6th 1841, Joseph and Elizabeth were living in Lane Ends, Eccleston with Joseph's youngest daughter Hannah, and three-year-old Thomas Stanley, probably a grandchild. Joseph was a watch maker.
By March 30th 1851, Joseph and Elizabeth were still in Lane Ends; Joseph was a watch fuzee maker.
Elizabeth died in 1859, and was buried on 11 May 1859 at St Thomas' Church in Eccleston, Lancashire. Her age was recorded as 64, and her address as Parr.
Her estimated birth year varies considerably between different sources - 1787-1791 in 1841 (age 50), 1796 in 1851 (age 55), and 1795 (64 at death in 1859).
There are two possible deaths roughly matching this range of years between 1851 and 1861 in Prescot district; the 1859 one (aged 64) seems at first glance somewhat unlikely since the abode in the corresponding burial record is Parr and her husband was in Eccleston in 1851 and in 1861. However the other, on 22 Mar 1857 at Prescot St Mary's, has an abode of Eccleston but appears to exactly match Elizabeth (Parker) Stanley (1778-bef.1857). So it seems the 1859 one is hers.
I found 3 baptisms within ten years of 1786 in the parish of Prescot of Elizabeth Glovers with father William:
Elizabeth Birck married Thomas Ashton in 1808, had a son Richard Glover Ashton in 1809 whose christening record show his father to be a grocer of Liverpool, and mother and son both died in the first quarter of 1810 and were buried at St Helens Chapel. So the 1785 baptism can be confidently ruled out.
An officer of excise may have been transferred around the country; there is only one christening record for this family listed on Lancashire OPC website; so it's much less likely that the 1792 Elizabeth stayed in Prescot.
Children of William and Ruth were christened between 1778 and 1794, the later ones in Upholland. The father was a husbandman/farmer. If the family stayed in Upholland, there was an Elizabeth Glover who married a John Tasker in 1808 in Upholland, and later a James Glover on 29 Jan 1838 at St James', Toxteth Park.
It therefore doesn't seem possible to conclude with any confidence that any of these 3 baptisms is Elizabeth's. Marriage records occasionally do name a biological father when the parents weren't married even though they weren't supposed to, so it's possible (but unlikely) her maiden name was not Glover. No suitable Glover - Dutton marriages found, but she may have married more than twice.
