We regret to record the death of Mrs. J. Hewen, which sad event occurred at an early hour on Friday morning, being brought on, we understand, by an attack of bronchitis and pneumonia. She leaves a family of young children, and the event is more distressful by reason of the fact that the husband is away shearing.[1]

She (matron) and nurse both were with her when she died, and at a quarter to 6 the nurse went down to Mrs. McCabe's, and told her. Deceased's friends had all been up, and spoke well of the treatment.
She had gone to those who were supposed to have started the rumours, but they gave a general denial.

IN MEMORIAM HEWEN. —
In sad but loving memory of our dear sister, Minnie Hewen, who departed this life on the 18th August, 1905.
It is one sad year ago to-day.
Since our dear sister passed away;.
The thoughts still linger round each heart,.
'Twas hard for us from her to part.
Long days and nights she bore in pain;.
To wait for cure was all in vain,.
But God alone who thought it best.
Did ease her from pain and gave her rest.
