Obituary

Norman L. Goad, a land developer in Jefferson County for more than 40 years, died Friday (26 May 2000) at St.Anthony's Medical Center in St.Louis after a sudden illness. He was 70 and lived in Hillsboro.

Mr. Goad was born in DeSoto, but he lived most of his life and centered his business activities in Cedar Hill.

Mr. Goad was the founder and owner of Norman Goad Construction Co., Cedar Hill Utility Co. and Cedar Hill Estates Water Co. He continued to direct all three businesses until his death.

The first president of the Jefferson County Builders Association, Mr. Goad also formerly served on the county's Industrial Development Authority. He was a charter member of the Jefferson County Planning and Zoning Commission.

Mr. Goad was an electronics instructor in the Air Force in the early 1950s.

He was a past master, Crestwood Euclid Masonic Lodge and a member of Moolah Shrine in St. Louis and the Scottish Rite Temple.

Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday at Chapel Hill Mortuary in C edar Hill. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of House Springs in House Springs. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

His first wife, Helen I. Goad, died in 1985.
