A Rose Goddard married a John Smithe on 13 Sep 1568 at Merrow, Surrey.^[1]

Whether the John Smithe was John Smyth/Smythe of Southwark, Surrey, Brewer, is unknown.

Research Notes

A Smyth pedigree in the Visitation of Surrey recorded that John Smyth of Merrow, son of Anthony Smith of Merrow, married Rose, daughter of Stevens of Horsley, Surrey.^[2] The sons of John Smyth of Merrow were Anthony and Richard.

It is clear that the John Smyth of Merrow and the John Smyth of Southwark were different people, but it is unclear which, if either, was the John Smithe who married Rose Goddard in 1568.

This profile was originally connected to John Goddard and Elizabeth Berenger but there is no evidence that they had a daughter named Rose. All their other children are very well documented.
