Frederick Charles was born on the 7 January 1862 in Il-Furjan, a fortified town in the South Eastern Region area of Malta, just outside the capital city of Valletta[1]. His parents were Benjamin William Godfrey and Jane Elizabeth Mills.
Baptism
His baptism took place at the Garrison Church, Castille Place, City of Valletta, on the Island of Malta on the 18 January 1862[2].
Marriage
Frederick Charles marries Emma Elizabeth Munden on the 14 April 1884 at St. Mary Magdalene Parish Church, Gillingham Green, Town of Gillingham, Kent, England[3][4].

Residence
Frederick is back living in the Village of New Brompton, near the Town of Chatham, Kent, England by the time of his father's death on the 11 September 1865. By 1871, he was residing at the The Royal Patriotic Fund Boys School , East Hill House, 21 Spencer Park, Wandsworth, Surrey South West, All Saints Parish, Wandsworth, London & Surrey, England[5].
Biographical Background:.....The Royal Patriotic Fund (RPF) was created in 1854. Queen Victoria, concerned for the well-being of the widows and orphans of British servicemen dying in the Crimean War, made an appeal for public donations. (The State did not at that time assume any responsibility for the dependants of its soldiers and sailors lost in conflict.) By the Queen's warrant, the RPF was to be administered by a Royal Commission, with Albert, the Prince Consort, as its first President......[6].
He disappears with the 1881 and 1891 Census records, presumably because he is serving overseas with the Royal Navy. By 1901, Frederick is back with his family at 60 Foreign Street, in the District of Lambeth, in South London, England, London Borough of Lambeth, London and Surrey, England. He and Emma Elizabeth live with their children William James, Frederick Charles, Edith Florence, Albert "Bert" Edward, George Archibald and Percival Scott Lambton[7].
Occupation
At the time of his marriage to Emma Elizabeth Munden, he is a Stoker with the Royal Navy[8][9]. His occupation, with the 1901 Census is that of a Stationary Engine Driver.
Death/Burial
Frederick Charles died on the 27 July 1903 at 91 Albany Road, in the Town of Gillingham, in Kent, England at the age of 41 years[10]. He is interred in Grange Road Cemetery, Gillingham Parish, Town of Gillingham, north east of the Town of Chatham, in Kent, England on the 30 July 1903[11][12].
