Biography
Monica was born in summer 1911, the third daughter, ninth and final child of John Godson and Jessie Trew. Her family had relatively recently relocated to New Westminster from Bamfield, BC. The family lived at 614 4th Avenue,[1] and then by 1913 at 43 Albert Crescent.[2]
By 1921 Monica was living with her parents and close siblings at 844 East Broadway in Vancouver, along with two adopted brothers, as reflected in the 1921 census.[3] By 1923 Monica's father John had retired and the bulk of the family returned to Bamfield.[4]
In summer 1929, at age 18, Monica married 21-year-old Nanaimo native John Henry Mannion.[5] Their only child, John Jr., was born three months later.
Monica Elizabeth Mannion passed away from tuberculosis just two months after her son was born, in autumn 1929.[6]
