Henry was born in 1867. He is the son of Thomas Godwin and Jeannette B Shackelford.
In 1870 when he was 3 years old, Henry Godwin was living in Township 4, Kern, California with his parents and two siblings Mahala 5 and Amanda age 5 months[1]
In 1880, Henry B. Goodwin age 13 was living in Tehachipa, Kern, California whare he was attending school. Was living in the home with his parents and sister Ida age 5.[2]
On 21 August 1888, Henry B Godwin was living in kernville, Kern, California. Whare he was working as a Laberor.[3]
Henry died November 29, 1891 between Caliente and Onyx in Kern County Califorina at abt 24 years old. Cause of death was a broken neck after being thrown from stage Coach.
Down an Embankment A stage driver meets with death in a runaway. Caliente, November 29 - The four horse team drawing the United states stage between Caliente and Onyx ran away this evening while decending the Hot springs grade, seven miles this side of Kernville, throwing out the driver H. B Godwin who was running an extra trip for E. Chanwick the regular driver breaking his neck and causing instant death.
The team ran into a tree, breaking one of the horse's legs and damaging the stage coach to some extent. A rancher met the runaways and procedded back some distance. Whare he found Godwin lying dead down an embankment.[4]
