From a biography of Thomas Jefferson Powers:
Tom Powers was born 04 Sep 1844 in Fayetteville to William (d by 1850) and Zilla (Godwin) Powers (b 1803) and was probably a grandson of May E Powers b ca 1775. Tom died 29 Mar 1922 in Fayetteville. William and Zilla Powers and their family lived in Columbus Co prior to moving to Fayetteville by 1840. ... He was the brother of Elizabeth Ann Powers b 1829, Stephen Powers b 1837 and Holland Powers 1832-1904.
From Pension Application of Charles Powers:
On June 15, 1853 in Cumberland County North Carolina, Elizabeth Powers, Experience Powers & Zilla Powers widow of William Powers executed a power of attorney in which they state they are the children and heirs at law of Charles Powers deceased late of Columbus County & his wife Sabra Powers, in which day and powered their attorney to pursue on their behalf such claims to a pension as vague might be entitled to as the heirs of Sabra Powers.
