Otto Goertz, 65, of San Antonio, formerly of Rockne and one of the original Rockne Playboys, died Friday, December 20, 1991 at 9:45 a.m. in the Humana San Antonio Hospital, following a two-year bout with cancer. Rosary for the deceased was recited on Sunday, December 22 at Dell-Crest Funeral Home in San Antonio. The funeral mass was offered by Rev. Bernard Goertz, Msgr. Clyde Holtman, Rev. Victor Goertz and Rev. Dean Wilhelm on Monday, December 23 at 11 a.m. Interment was held in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rockne. Pallbearers were Ernest Goertz, Harolyn Goertz, Oscar Friske, Dennis Goertz, and Jeffrey Schumacher and William Goertz. Gifts were carried by his grandchildren. Survivors include his widow, Dorothy Friske Goertz of San Antonio; three sons Wayne Goertz, Dale Goertz and Leland Goertz, all of San Antonio; a daughters, Lori Goertz of San Antonio; two brothers, Hugo and Ernest Goertz of Bastrop; one sister, Leona Schumacher of San Antonio; and four grandchildren. The deceased, son of the late Albert and Sophia Grohman Goertz, was born July 22, 1931. He and Miss Dorothy Friske were married in Sacred Heart Church 41 years ago in Rockne on November 26, 1950. They lived their entire married life in San Antonio where he was employed for the Lone Star Brewery for 37 years. He retired in 1987.
