Note: Robert Goertz, 74, of Sacred Heart Parish, Rockne, passed away, Monday, January 5, at 12 p.m. in the McClosky Veterans Hospital in Temple. Mr. Goertz had been hospitalized approximately ten days prior to his death. Rev. Msgr. Claude A. Faust offered the Requiem Mass Tuesday evening, January 6, in Sacred Heart Church, Rockne at 7:30 p.m. Graveside services were conducted by Msgr. Faust Wednesday morning, January 7, at 10 a.m. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Rockne. Pallbearers were Vernon Bartsch, Herman Bartsch, Wilford Wilhelm, Herman Goertz, Albert Klaus, Arthur Goertz, Anton Goertz, and John Wendland, members of VFW Post No. 2527. All members of the Post were named honorary pallbearers. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Adolph Hoffman of Rockne; seven brothers, Peter Goertz of Austin; Adolph Goertz, Albert Goertz, Philip Goertz, Louie Goertz, Alfred Goertz and Sylvester Goertz, all of Rockne, and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Goertz, son of the late Peter and Mary Goertz, was born in the Rockne Community, October 5, 1895. A Veteran of World War I, he was a member of the local V.F.W. Post and a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a retired farmer and rancher in the Community. Buried Rockne, Bastrop County, Texas, United States.
