Jakob Goettel was born on December 13, 1837 in Niederstaufenbach, Pfalz, Bavaria. He was the son of Johann Heinrich Goettel and Philippine Hoering. He was christened on December 25, 1837 in Bosenbach, Pfalz, Bavaria.[1]
He married Charlotta Weisenstein on August 16, 1866 in Essweiler, Pfalz, Bavaria.[2] They had at least 6 children together according to baptismal records. Their oldest child, Wilhelmina, immigrated to the United States at 20 years of age.
After Charlotta's death in 1880, Jakob married Charlotta Elisabetha Gilcher the same year.[3] He had 5 more children with her according to baptismal records.
