Violet Florence Mabel Goetze was born on 27 December 1867, and baptised at St Marks church, Marylebone on 19 February 1868, the daughter of James Henry Goetze, a merchant, and his wife Rosina Harriett. Their abode at the time was given as 13, Upper Hamilton Terrace, Marylebone. [1]

Violet married Alfred Moritz Mond on 16 June 1894, at St Johns Wood, Westminster. He was age 25, lived at 66 Lowdnes Square, was a barrister by profession and was the son of Ludwig Mond, F.R.S. a manufacturing chemist. Violet was 26 years old, she lived at 86, Carlton Hill and was the daughter of James Henry Goetze, deceased, a merchant. [3]

Violet supported her husband's political career, and following his success, she became Lady Mond in 1910, and Baroness Melchett in 1928. She was a humanitarian, becoming involved with care of the wounded soldiers from WWI and later in infant welfare. For these services, she was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British empire in 1920. [6]
Violet died in London on 25 September 1945, the entry in the probate calendar showed that she appointed three executors to administer her estate which was valued at £239,786 16s 1d [7]
