Thomas Goff was the second son of Thomas Goff and Ann Goff (nee Cabell). He was baptised John Thomas Goff on 15 Dec 1782 at Barnes St Mary, but is known as Thomas.
On 27 Nov 1805 he married Sarah Wakefield at Chelsea St Luke, Middlesex after Banns in the presence of George Goff (brother?) and Mary Wakefield (sister?). Both are shown as single and of 'this parish'.
Their first child Ann Goff is born in 1806 in Barnes. She is baptised on 27 Sep 1806 at Barnes St Mary but unfortunately dies and is buried just 2 days later on 29 Sep 1806 - also at Barnes St Mary.
A second daughter, Mary Ann Goff, is born 1808 in again in Barnes and is baptised on 2 Feb 1808 at Barnes St Mary.
In 1810 a son, Thomas Goff, is born and is baptised on 15 Apr 1810 at Barnes St Mary.
In 1811 his father (a Market Gardener) dies and leaves his Copyleases to his two eldest sons, Thomas and his older brother John, for the care of his wife, Ann, and his youngest son Richard. Thomas and John together take on responsibility for their father's business.
In 1812 a further daughter, Elizabeth Goff, is born and is baptised on 21 Jun 1812 at Barnes St Mary. (We have no further record of her after this).
From 1813 onwards, Land Tax records confirm that Thomas and his brother John continue to lease their father's house and land and other land plots too.
1814 sees the birth of a last child, Sarah Goff, who is baptised on 10 Feb 1814 at Barnes St Mary. But this also seems to be the cause of his wife's death and she is buried on 24 Feb 1814 at Barnes St Mary. Unfortunately the daughter Sarah lives only a few months and is buried on 3 Jul 1814 at Barnes St Mary.
After his wife's death it maybe that Thomas handed the care of his surviving children to his wife's family. From 1841 we find his daughter Mary Ann in Staffordshire - initially in Stone, his wife's home town, and son Thomas is found in Birmingham by 1871.
From this point until 1825 we have nothing further on Thomas. We can see from Land Tax Records that he still has his name on the leases left to he and his brother.
In 1825 their mother Ann dies. It seems that this, by 1828, the bothers no longer run the same business. The rent less land and in 1828 Thomas has started a renting a house and land in Mortlake instead, but this seems to end by 1831.
In the 1841 census we see Thomas working as a Labourer and living in Barnes Green apparently in lodgings.
He dies in 1848 and is buried on 30 Apr 1848 at Barnes St Mary.
