Family Life
Samuel was living in Row 23, Yarmouth Northern, Great Yarmouth on the night of the 3 April 1881. At 34, he was a general labourer and unmarried. His landlady, Mary Ann LARN was a beatster. She was married, but her husband George LARN was not at home. Mary and George's children Alice and Arthur were still at home. Alice was a silk weaver and Arthur was a scholar. There were three more children in the household. Samuel, 7, Walter, 4, Frederick, 3 and Maud, 1. The four younger children's births were all registered under a middle name of GOFFIN and a surname of LARN. It seems likely that Samuel was their father, with the first child named after him. They were all born in Great Yarmouth. Samuel could not marry Mary Ann LARN nee LONG, because she was already married to George LARN.
