GOLDER, GOULDER, Or GOULDING, JOSEPH, of Gravesend in 1654
(father from Ireland and mother English); m. Neltje or Ellinor Claes (Smit). On census of 1698, and probably removed to Monmouth Co., N. J., where his son Joseph in 1704 purchased a farm near the village of Middletown, and in 1709, with his w. Anneke Daws, was a mem. of the Freehold R. D. church. Issue:—Joseph, b. 1675; William, b. 1677; Nicholas, b. 1679; and Anne, b. 1682, as per Gravesend records. Signed his name Joseph Gollding," and his s. Joseph made his mark to documents.[1]
