Information on George is sketchy at best. We do not know his birth location nor the names of his parents. He was born on May 16 - however, the 1939 Register indicates a birth year of 1888 and his death record quotes 1886. We could find no birth/christening records or any verifiable census records, except for 1939.
We do know that George married Rhoda Benham Clark in 1920 in Reading, Berkshire. They would become the parents of 3 sons. In 1939, George was working as a 'government heavy worker'. The family remained in Reading for the duration of their lives - George was widowed in 1964 and died in 1969.
