Mary was born on 16 July 1811 at Killearnan, Ross-shire, Scotland and baptised there on 26 July 1811[1], and baptised on 26 July 1811 at Killearnan. She was the daughter of Roderick Gollan and Isabel Young.
She married Alexander McKenzie on 10 January 1834 at Killearnan, Ross and Cromarty[2]. They had eight children, all born in Scotland except Jemima who was born in the Colony of Victoria.
In 1851 she was living with her husband Alexander and children - Donald (16), Isabella (14), Roderick (12), Murdo (8), Colin (6), John (3) and baby Jessie - at Wester Ross, Ross-shire[8].
Mary (Gollan) McKenzie migrated from Scotland to Colony of Victoria.
She emigrated from Liverpool on the Europa with her husband and five children to Melbourne in the Colony of Victoria arriving on 15 September 1852[9].
Mary (Gollan) McKenzie migrated from Colony of Victoria to New Zealand.
From there they emigrated to New Zealand, possibly in 1854 as Jemima was born in October the previous year in the Colony.
Her husband Alexander died on 25 February 1876 aged 72 years[10].
Mary died on 7 July 1890[11][12] at Masterton. She was buried in Archer Street Cemetery, Masterton, Plot Plan IV, Row 1[13]. Her probate was granted at Wellington[14]. Her Executors were Mr Edwin Feist and Mr William Alexander. All her property was to be divided among her surviving children.
