Thomas Gooch was born on 13 December 1862 in Ray County, Missouri, United States to Alexander Gooch (1819-1904) and Nancy Jane Goode (1833-1904).

He married Elizabeth Jane Allen, called Lizzie, (1864-1942) on 7 March 1888 in Ray County, Missouri. [1]
