Research Notes

There are two profiles for Matthew Gough on WikiTree, both have the same death date and place -- 20 Aug 1697 in Henrico County, Colony of Virginia -- but differing birth dates.

Hotten gives the dates and ages for two individuals, Matthew Gough and Mathew Gowgh, who immigrated to Virginia: [1]

  • 10 August 1635, on the Safety, John Graunt, Mr: Mathew Gough, age 22, born c 1613 [p 121]
  • 24 October 1635, on the Constance, Clement Campion, Mr: Mathew Gowgh, age 28, born c 1607 [p 137]

Perhaps this profile should be changed to born 1607 in England, and remove the death date which appears to belong to the other Mathew Gough. Or they should be merged into one profile.

removed from parents as doesn't appear in the "Gooch of Mettingham" Suffolk, pedigree

Gooch-185 and Gough-161 appear to represent the same person because: same person. Impossible to be born in 1603 with parents dates of birth.
