Isn't Claiborne Gooch's mother Ursula Claiborne, not his wife? This profile has her as both his mother and his wife. See https://www.jstor.org/stable/1914906?seq=3#page_scan_tab_contents where she is shown to be William Gough's wife.

What is the source for a wife named Mildred Thompson? There is a Mildred Thomson married to a Clayborne Gooch that had a son named Thomson on 28 Jan 1784, but that is 100 years later than this Claiborne.[1]
