Biography
Name and Parentage
Florinda Goode was the daughter of Richard Goode and Sarah Parker. [1]
I have seen some references to Florinda as "Florinda Bizwell", but this is an error.[1]
1689 Marriage to Thomas Tharpe II
Around 1689 Florinda Goode married Thomas Tharpe, II. Thomas Tharpe II was born about 1665 in Old Rappahannock County, VA. [1] He first appears in court records in a 1687 deed for the purchase of 30 acres of land.[1] In 1690 Thomas Tharpe served as Constable for the county. [1]In 1701 Thomas made an inventory for the handling of an estate. He made his mark, 'T', indicating that he could not write his name.[1]
1704 Named in Husband's Will
On 16 MAY 1704, Thomas Tharpe wrote his will, naming his children, his wife, and his loving "father" Richard Goode. The will was probated on 10 JUN 1704.[1]
1705 Second Marriage to Thomas Ayers
After the death of her husband, Florinda Goode Tharpe married to Thomas AYERS about 1705/06. She died sometime before 1717.[1]

- Hannah Tharpe - bc 1690, married John ANDREWS on 10 OCT 1706 in Essex County, VA, died before 1725.[1]
- William Tharpe - bc 1691, d. before 1757 in Essex County, VA.[1]
- Thomas Tharpe, III - (1695-1762 .[1]
Research Notes
James Thomas Thorpe, born 1647 was previously shown as married to Florinda Goode, born 1670. Florinda, however, was married to Thomas Thorpe II, born 1665 who is currently shown as James Thomas Thorpe's nephew. Since Florinda's marriage to both is unlikely, she has been de-linked from marriage to James Thomas Thorpe.
