Biography

Wesley Cornelius Goode was born in 1901 at Old Hill, Rowley Regis, Staffordshire. ^[1]

He was baptised on 19 May 1907 at Penrhiwceiber, Glamorganshire, Wales. His parents were named as George and Mary Ann Goode of 42 Pentwyn Ave. His father was a collier. Wesley's date of birth was recorded as 3 April 1901 in the baptismal register. ^[2]

In the 1911 census Wesley was living with his parents George and Mary Ann Goode at 5 Morgan St, Abercrave, Glamorganshire, Wales. He was aged 10 years. ^[3]

Wesley C Goode married Ethel Mason nee Cashmore in 1928 in Warwickshire. ^[4]
Ethel was a widow with one child.

This couple had four children.

Daughter Gwennyth [sic] Christine Goode died in 1931 aged 2 years. ^[5]

Son Anthony David Terence Goode died in 1936 aged 4 years. ^[6]

The 1939 Register, taken on 29 September 1939, has been described as a snapshot of the civilian population of England and Wales just after the outbreak of the Second World War. The Register recorded each person's address, date of birth and occupation.
At that time Wesley and Ethel were residing at 8 Queen's Road, Kenilworth, Warwickshire. Wesley, born 3 April 1901, was aged 38. He was then working as an aero fitter. Ethel, born 2 October 1904, was aged 34. Daughter Angela, born 17 August 1931, was aged 8. Her surname was later amended to her married surname of Palmer. The record for two other children remain closed at this time [2018]. ^[7]

Wesley Cornelius Goode died in 1977 aged 76 years. ^[8]

Ethel Goode died in 1988 aged 84 years. ^[9]
