William moved with his parents to Scott County, Missouri in 1828. He met Margaret Rebecca Wilson while she was visiting relative in Missouri. They were married in 1853 and moved to Texas in 1858 when it was discovered that William was dying of consumption. On advice of the doctor Rebecca purchased a hearse and drove William and their two daughters to Bell County, Texas. William died on the farm and was buried in a frontier cemetery about 3 miles east of Belton. His body was later moved to the Temple, Texas cemetery in a lot where his wife and her second husband, A. M. Keller, were later buried. [1]
