Biography

Rolland was born on 10 January 1906 in San Antonio, Bexar Co., TX. He was the son of Fred Ormal Goodell and Gertrude W. (Humphrey) Goodell.

Rolland was baptised on 9 June 1907 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co., PA.^[1]

When Rolland was 24 he married Marybelle Afton Darrow on 5 October 1930 in Nogales, Santa Cruz Co., Arizona. The couple had 3 children: Fred Dewitt Goodell, Leonard Joseph Goodell and Clara Eileen Goodell.

Graduation: 3 June 1931 in BSBusAdmin, University of Arizona, Tucson.

Retirement: 1965 in US Forest Service, Albuquerque, NM.

Rolland died at the age of 71 on 18 September 1977 in Albuquerque, Bernalillo Co., NM.

Rolland was buried on 21 September 1977 in National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM.^[2][3]

OBITUARY

Albuquerque Journal, September 20, 1977

GOODELL--Col. Rolland J. Goodell (U. S. Army retired) age 71, a resident here for 28 years died

Sunday in a local hospital following an illness. He is survived by his wife Marybelle; two sons,

Leonard J. Goodell of Albuqueque, Fred D. Goodell of Rio De Janeiro; a daughter, Clara Eileen

Collins in Wales and 7 grandchildren.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Firgeson and sons, funeral directors,

3113 Carlisle NE, with the Rev. Dr. Charles Thigpen of St. Pauls Untied Methodist Church

officiating. Internment will follow at the Sante Fe National Cemetery at 1 p.m.
