Calvin Goodell Jr. was born on 13 Apr 1827 in Loami, Sangamon, IL, son of Calvin Goodell (1783 - 1863) and Martha (Coley) Goodell (1789 - 1852). [1]

His siblings were:

Military Service:
Vicksburg, Warren County, Mississippi was a strategic location along the Mississippi River. The battle took place between 18 May 1863 - 4 Jul 1863. After a 47-day siege, Lt. Gen. John C. Pemberton’s Confederate troops surrendered to Gen. Ulysses S. Grant.

Family Notes: Calvin enlisted Aug. 14, 1862 Co. "K" 106th Illinois Infantry with his brother Schuyler. Calvin died during the siege of Vicksburg, Mississippi on 31 May 1863. Calvin died of fever while in the service during the Civil War.

Calvin died about 21 May 1863 or (27 Jun 1863 was imported from GEDCOM) in Duvalls Bluff, Vicksburg, Mississippi aged 36. He is buried in Vicksburg, MS National Cemetery (Union). [1]
