John Goodfellow was born in Teffont Evias, Wiltshire, England.
Birth and Parentage
John was born in Teffont Evias, in about 1688, the son of James Goodfellow and his wife, Susanna née Selfe. He was christened on 29 August 1691 in St Margaret's, Chilmark. [1]
John became the miller of Teffont Evias, [2]an occupation which was passed down for several generations.
On 14 August 1716 in Teffont Evias/Barford St Martin/Burcombe, near Salisbury, at the age of 28, he married 22 year old Anne or Anna Davies, spinster, also of Teffont Evias. [2]Edmund Pitts of Salisbury, Gentleman, stood as John's bondsman. [4][5]
A son, James, named after John's father, was born in 1728, but died a year later.[6]
Death and Burial
A John Goodfellow was buried in Teffont Evias on 9 August 1748.[7]
