William Goodhue III was born on 13 November 1667, in Ipswich in the Massachusetts Bay Colony.[1][2][3]
Per the Goodhue Family, this William probably died unmarried.[3] He is not named in his father's will written October 3, 1712, so it must be presumed that he died before that date.[4]
The death date that was on this profile actually belongs to William Goodhue (abt.1666-1722). The current death date is estimated.
There is no record of a marriage for William Goodhue III in Ipswich, nor are there children which can be definitely identified as his. There is a Deacon William Goodhue who married a Mrs. Mary Webb on 7 Dec 1699,[5] but William III would have been only 32 then, which might be too young to be named a deacon.
Furthermore, there was a Deacon William who had a son, Capt. William, who died on 12 Oct 1712, at the age of 67,[6] which means he would have been born ca. 1645. That would indicate that this Deacon William was born no later than ca. 1625.
There is another marriage of a Deacon Goodhue (no first name given), probably in the late 1600s (the date in the transcripts is only "16--," to a Mrs. Remember Fisk,[7] who died 16 Feb 1701/2.[8]
So, there may well have been more than one Deacon William Goodhue, as well as additional Deacons Goodhue, in 17th-century Ipswich. More research is needed to determine who Deacon William might have been and whether William III might have relocated when he married away from Ipswich.
