Caroline Gooding was born 1840 in Debenham, Suffolk,[1] the daughter of Samuel Gooding but the records concerning her mother are somewhat confusing (see notes below).
In 1863 she married William Peck [2], a wheelwright and carpenter.
1841 UK census age 1 with parents Samuel & Elizabeth & three considerably older siblings in Debenham [3]
1851 UK census age 11 with parents [4]
1861 UK census age 21, a dressmaker living with her parents [5]
1871 UK census age 31 with husband and one child [6]
1881 UK census age 40 with husband and one child [7]
1891 UK census age 50 with husband [8]
1901 UK census age 60 with husband [9]she was described as "feeble-minded". Caroline died 6 years later age 67[10]
GRO Birth Index gives mother's maiden name as Nicholls - NOT Amass as shown right. (Amass as LNAB appears to be a mistake on that profile - Elizabeth (Amass) Gooding (abt.1801-abt.1867))
Baptised 19 Apr 1840, Debenham St Mary, dau of Samuel & Mary Gooding - Findmypast record so not referenced here (England Orphan project rules).
FreeReg includes a note on Caroline's baptism entry (which gives parents as Samuel and Mary Gooding): "Entered from a certificate by the Curate of Wetheringsett following the death of George Smalley. SRO Fiche 16" [11]
