Biography

Birth

1776 Project
Pvt. Henry Goodnight served with Cumberland County Militia, Pennsylvania Militia during the American Revolution.

Henry was born in August of 1758 in Bedford County, Virginia. [1] He the son of Hans Michael Gutknecht and and unknown mother, possibly Maria Christina Ribschlaeger. 

Revolutionary War Service

According to his Revolutionary War pension application (No. S38743), Henry was born in Aug 1758, and during served in the Continental Army in the North Carolina Continental Line in the Light Horse Brigade under a Captain Pfeifer. His application, dated 26 May 1827 and filed in Giles County, Tennessee. 4. [2]

Marriage

Henry’s war pension application also names a wife, Elizabeth, aged 72, and a son, David, aged 24.[2]

Death

Henry Goodnight passed away in March of 1845.[1]

I can find no records that connect this person to the parents shown, and the mother would have been only 14 when she was born. Please consider that these may be incorrect parents.
