Research Notes

  • This is not the same Millicent Goodrich Hollister, born 24 Jan 1752 in Farmington, Connecticut to Zebulon Goodrich. Goodrich Family in America attributes Millicent, daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth, as marrying Salmon Hollister. It also attributes Salmon Hollister marrying Millisant Goodrich, daughter of Zebulon and Anne. As Hollister Family of America attributes Salmon Hollister to the later Millisant Goodrich that is how this record is treated.

There are 3 Mellicent Goodriches of the same age mentioned in Stiles: History of Ancient Wethersfield. It would be easy to confuse them and assign the wrong ancestry. Verification that this Millicent married John Gilbert was found in the probate file of Samuel Goodrich. John Gilbert signed the bond for the widow Elizabeth Goodrich.

How could she have John when she was 6? I mean, I've heard that it is possible. But it just seems... strange.
