Biography

He was the longest serving consecutive term Mayor in the state of Florida.

• Clarence Q. Goodrich Jr., 76, of Blinn Street, Oak Hill, Fla., died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, in his home. He was born in Oak Hill and was a lifetime resident of the area. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He retired after 28 years as a civil service worker at Patrick Air Force Base and was an agent for Keyes Real Estate. He served as mayor of Oak Hill for 27 years, was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Edgewater and was a member of New Smyrna Lodge 149 F&AM. He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Ida Goodrich; a daughter, Jennifer G. Bonamo of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; a sister, Jean Cantrell of Hendersonville; and twin grandsons, Jon and Jason Bonamo of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. A celebration of life was held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Edgewater. The Rev. Tom Bray officiated. The family suggests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church, 130 E. Park Ave., Edgewater, Fla. 32132. Settle-Wilder Funeral Home in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., was is in charge of the arrangements.* [1]
