REBECCA GOODRIDGE, b. at Newbury, 17 Apr 1723[1] daughter of Philip and Mehitable (Woodman) Goodridge; d. at Lunenburg, 4 Mar 1809;[2] m. at Newbury, 18 Dec 1744,[3] her first cousin, EZEKIEL GOODRIDGE, b. 3 Jun 1713[4] son of Jeremiah and Mary (Rowe) Goodridge; Ezekiel d. at Lunenburg, 30 Aug 1777.
Ezekiel and Rebecca had a farm in Lunenburg. Ezekiel did not leave a will and widow Rebecca was administratrix. Inventory was made 20 October 1777 with personal estate valued at £170.3.6. Real estate was house and barn on sixty acres valued at £266.13.4. The distribution of the real estate was made 21 October 1778. The dower thirds were set off to the widow and the remainder of the estate to Ezekiel eldest son, Joshua Goodridge second son, Mary Ritter wife of Moses Ritter eldest daughter, Francis Goodridge third son, and Elizabeth Goodridge second daughter. Philip Goodridge was guardian for Francis Goodridge.[5]
Rebecca Goodridge and Ezekiel Goodridge were parents of five children.
i MARY GOODRIDGE, b. at Newbury, 23 Sep 1747;[6] d. at Lunenburg, 15 Dec 1785; m. at Lunenburg, 5 Sep 1771, MOSES RITTER, b. at Newbury, 17 Feb 1741/2 son of Moses and Hannah (Jackman) Ritter; Moses d. at Lunenburg, 20 Apr 1810. Moses married second at Shirley on 8 Dec 1791 the widow Elizabeth Hartwell Diggins.
ii ELIZABETH GOODRIDGE, b. at Newbury, 20 Oct 1751;[7] d. after 1808 when living at Clarendon, VT; m. at Lunenburg, 11 Sep 1779. JOSHUA SAXTON who has not been identified; Joshua d. at Lunenburg, 1783 (probate 7 August 1783). No children are known. On 1 April 1783, Elizabeth sold the property set off to her from her father’s estate to Thomas Burkmore for £13.10. In October 1808, Elizabeth Saxton then of Clarendon, Rutland County, Vermont, sold her right in the reversion of the dower of Rebecca Goodridge to Peter Brown of Lunenburg for $25.[8] Spinster Elizabeth Saxton was “warned out” of Lunenburg in 1791.[9] As Elizabeth had not remarried, this warning out likely refers to her. Elizabeth was head of household in Lunenburg in 1790, the household consisting of two females.[10] In 1800 at Clarendon, VT, the household of Elizabeth Saxton was one female.[11]
iii EZEKIEL GOODRIDGE, b. at Lunenburg, 5 May 1755;[12] d. after 1818; m. 1st at Lunenburg, 17 Mar 1779, HEPHZIBAH DODGE, b. at Lunenburg, 30 Oct 1761 daughter of Zebulon and Martha (Wallace) Dodge; Hephzibah d. by 1818. Ezekiel Real estate m. 2nd (intention at Lunenburg, 1 May 1818), widow EUNICE DAVIS.
iv JOSHUA GOODRICH, b. at Lunenburg, 7 Oct 1758; d. at Fletcher, VT, 26 Oct 1835; m. 27 Aug 1792, SALLY CARRIER, b. at Ellington, 18 Sep 1765 daughter of Isaac and Prudence (Hubbard) Carrier; Sally d. at Fletcher, 17 Jul 1843.
v FRANCIS GOODRIDGE, baptized 29 Aug 1761;[13] d. at Fletcher, VT, 4 Mar 1838; m. at Wilmington, MA, 25 Jul 1782, SARAH GRIFFIN who has not been identified.
