DAILY SOUTHERN CROSS, VOLUME XVII, ISSUE 1411, 21 JUNE 1861 - Inquests — The Coroner held an inquest at the Redan Hotel, Onehunga, on Friday last, on the body of James Goodwin, a pensioner, whose health had latterly been delicate. After hearing evidence, the jury returned the verdict, of "Died by the visitation of God.

St. Peter's Churchyard, Onehunga James Goodwin (Fencible) interred 15 June 1861. Husband of Hannah Goodwin. From Norfolk, UK; arrived in Auckland on the Oriental Queen, Sept 1849. James then aged 43. Hannah his wife aged 32; two children: William aged 6 and Martha aged 4.
