Birth

Hendrikus Goossens was born on February 11, 1850 op de boerderij ‘De Kroon’ in de Bloemenstraat 6, Milsbeek, in Ottersum, Limburg, Netherlands. Near the river Maas.

Marriage

Harry married on 7 April 1883 at the age of thirty-three with the twenty-three-year-old Maria Catharina van Well in Ottersum, Limburg, Netherlands. Although you would expect that Hendrik, as the eldest son, would remain on the parental farm 'de Kroon', the young couple moved to an larger farm 'de Repelvoort' in Beers. [1] In the 'Overmaasse' as they used to say there.

After discussions with Hendrik's contemporaries, Harry Goossens [2] suspected that Hendrikus - despite being the oldest son - was not the right successor to the 'de Kroon' farm, because of a) his already bad health and b) his wife's unmediated background.
