Cleo Lewis Gord was born 24 February 1902 at Ames, Iowa,[1] the son of Peter M. Gaard and Bertha G. Tesdahl; he is the oldest of three children. Cleo graduated from Marshalltown High School on 4 Jun 1920 where he was known as "Squeek" and played football, basketball, track, and baseball.[2] He graduated from Iowa State College in 1925 with a major in Dairy.[3] He married Edna Margaret Carlson on 5 July 1928 in Onawa, Iowa.[4] They moved to Davenport, Iowa, in 1931. Cleo was formerly a part owner and secretary-treasurer of the Iowana Farms Milk Co., and was vice president in charge of sales for the Peerless Dairy Company. Cleo died on 24 January 1969 in Davenport, Iowa, after a lengthy illness.[5][6]
