Biography

Martha Amelia Gordon was born in 1871. She married Thomas B. Kouts. Martha died on 12 March 1934, aged 62-63, and is buried with her husband Thomas in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, California. Her grave marker is inscribed, “our loving mother.” ^[1]

In 1900, the Kouts family lived in Ontario, California. The household included Jacob W., 58, born in Ohio in July 1842, whose parents were b. PA. Jacob owned the family home free and clear; his wife of 29 years, Margaret C., 57, b. May 1843 in Indiana, whose parents were b. NY; their sons, Leroy N. 25, b. Dec 1875 in Indiana, a head ditch mason; and Thomas B. , 26, b. Jan 1874 in Illinois, a farm laborer; and his wife of one year, Martha K., 27, b.March 1873 in CT, whose father was b. in England, and her mother was b. In CT. ^[2]

NOTE: Martha’s Census record shows her birthdate as March 1873, and her burial records show 1871.
