He was noted as a farmer, born 1851 in Mississippi and married as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are wife Florence Gorden, son Marcus Gorden, daughter Martha Gorden and son Charles Gorden.[5]

James A Gordon was enumerated as head of the household in Justice Precinct 5 Hubbard, Hill County, Texas for the June 26, United States Census, 1900. He was noted as a farmer and born November 1850 in Mississippi. He had been married for sixteen years. Also included in the household are wife Mattie A Gordon, daughter Bessie Gordon, daughter Ellie Gordon, daughter May F Gordon, son Clifton J Gordon, son Harry A Gordon, daughter Genevie Gordon and stepdaughter Etta Wallace as seen in an image of the original census.[6]

James A Gordon was enumerated as head of the household at Hubbard and Penelope Road, Justice Precinct 5, Hill County, Texas for the April 15, United States Census, 1910. He was noted as born 1851 in Mississippi and had been married four years (marked as second marriage). He was a farmer on a general farm and an owner as seen in the image of the original census. Also included in the household are wife Catherine F Gordon, daughter Geneva A Gordon, stepdaughter Mattie Lou Mclain, ward Kathryn Brown and ward Daphin Brown.[7]

James A Gordon was listed as the father of James Marcus Gordon who died May 14, 1951 in Claude, Armstrong County, Texas. The mother was listed as Florence Wallace.[8]

James Armemis Gordon is buried at Fairview Cemetery in Hubbard, Hill County, Texas.[9]
