Biography

Maria was born in 1814 in New York State. She is likely the daughter of Hugh Gordon and Mary.

She married Ralph Tyler 15 Dec 1831.^[1]

Ralph was living in Mayfield in 1840.^[2]

In 1850 she was living in Mayfield, Cuyahoga, Ohio.^[3] The household included Tabitha Tyler age 64 born in Connecticut, Ralph Tyler age 39 born in New York, Maria Tyler age 38 born in New York, Melvina Tyler age 17 born in Ohio, Mary Jane Tyler age 15 born in Ohio, Ann Olivia Tyler age 6 born in Ohio, and Jared Hamilton Tyler age 3 born in Ohio. Neighbors included Andrew Whiting age 39 born in New York and his uncle James Whiting age 55 born in Connecticut.

In 1860 she was living in Perry Township, Lake county, Ohio.^[4] The household included Ralph Tyler age 50 born in New York, Maria Tyler age 48 born in New York, Ann O Tyler age 16 born in Ohio, Jerrod Tyler age 12 born in Ohio, Tabothy Tyler age 75 born in Ohio, and Mary J Tyler age 24 born in Connecticut. Hugh Gordon age 74 and Mary Gordon age 68 both born in New York lived next door; these are likely Maria's parents.

In 1870 she was living in Perry, Lake, Ohio.^[5] The household included Ralph Tyler age 59 born in New York, Maria Tyler age 59 born in New York, Anna L Tyler age 26 born in Ohio, Jared H Tyler age 23 born in Ohio, Mary Gordon age 78 born in New York and Patrick Murphy age 15 born in Ohio.

She died 31 Mar 1900 and is buried in Perry Township Cemetery, Perry, Lake County, Ohio. ^[6]
