Biography
Lady Janet Gordon was a member of the aristocracy in Scotland.
Janet Gordon was born in 1535, the daughter of Sir James Gordon of Lochinvar and Margaret Crichton. [1]
Janet Gordon married William Cunningham, 5th or 6th Earl of Glencairn on 24 August 1549.[2]
Janet and William had eight children[2]:
- James, 6th Earl of Glencairn
- John, of Ross
- William, rector of Inchcailleoch, Loch Lomond
- Jean
- Katherine
- Margaret
- Elizabeth
- Susanna
She died on 18 November 1596.
Research Notes
This profile says, "Lady Janet and William produced 10 children", but there are only eight listed in the list from "The Scots Peerage" source. The attached son Archibald Cunningham (1550-1594) is one that is not on the list. Further research is needed to find a source for this relationship.
