Katharine Gordon was born in 1764 at Banff, Banffshire, Scotland and was baptised on the 22nd of April. She was the only surviving child and heir of George Gordon of Gight and Catherine Innes[1]
Catharine Gordon, 13th of Gight, married the widowed John Byron, a descendant of the Byron's of Newstead Abbey, at
St Michael's Anglican Church in Bath, Somerset, England on the 13th of May 1785.[2] The witnesses at their wedding were Alexander and Sarah Hay.
Their only child George, was born in 1788.
Catharine Byron was living, at the then, partly ruinous, Newstead Abbey, near Sherwood Forest, in Nottinghamshire, England, when she passed away on the 1st of August 1811, at the age of 46 years, and was buried nearby, in the Byron Family Vault at St Mary Magdeline Churchyard, Hucknall, Nottinghamshire, England, on the 9th of August 1811.[3]

The transcription from FamilySearch has an error, which needs addressing, as their marriage document clearly says "thirteenth".
