Thanks Sidney for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz

Because Pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants working within the projects coordinating them is essential Please ensure location data matches date of profile and avoid abbreviations. Citations & links for sources enable verification of data please add from wiki ID go to Research to find sources

Based on your tags/comments the Irish Roots may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to review other possibilities. Read the goals & tasks of the projects

Hi Sidney, I see that you just volunteered and signed our honor code. That's great! Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically significant ancestors? I see you have surnames for tags. Why don't you stop by the One Name Studies project, to see if there's already a name study for (surname) going on? The current leaders for that are Doug Lockwood and Alison Andrus. They would be happy to get you started.

You might be interested in one of the other Projects that can be found here.

Let me know if you need any help!

We're glad to have you on board!!

Hi Sidney,

How are you? I'm David a WikiTree Mentor. Thanks for adding profiles to WikiTree. There are reasons behind the eighth point in our Honor Code: "We cite sources. Without sources we can't objectively resolve conflicting information.

Sources are critically important for genealogy and you will be helping future genealogists by listing where the information you've added came from. This page describes sources and how to enter sources.

Preferably sources that can be viewed without having to pay to view them. If a source is from Ancestry or another Genealogy site where did they originate before they were added to trees there?

Family Search and Find a Grave are free websites for finding sources:

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Thanks for volunteering, Sidney! You are now a confirmed member of the WikiTree community.

Your next step is to reread and sign the Honor Code. Here's how to use WikiTree.

If you feel lost, ask a question in our G2G forum. Most WikiTree members are happy to help a fellow genealogist.

Here's the G2G Question of the Week: What's the most interesting news item you've found about one of your ancestors?"

If you want even more to do, check out these volunteer options.

Hi Sidney,

Welcome to the WikiTree family!

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, which means that all members work together as a single collaborative team. The Honor Code helps keep everything functioning smoothly as we work on one BIG tree.

The initial email from us has links you can use to get started. When you confirm your email address, you'll have an option to volunteer to add information to WikiTree, beginning with tags for your own profile. Tags are surnames, locations, concepts, etc. that you'd like to track.

If you decide to volunteer, a greeter will confirm your membership, and you'll be able to add new profiles to the tree.

Carole

P.S. I'm always happy to answer questions.
