James died at the Sofala goldfields in 1864, however he had already abandoned Ann and the family so she would have been managing the farm on her own. In 1861 he was ordered to pay 10 shillings in support each week.[3]
In 1891, Ann Gay was living alone at Terragong, an area or property at Jamberoo.[4]
