Biography

Nancy was the second child and eldest daughter of John Gore and Verlinda Johnston.

She married James Cook about 1846; according to the 1900 Census, they had been married 54 years; she was the mother of 10 children, 3 then living.

Nancy's younger sister Mary Gore, age 19, was living in the household in 1850 in Bath County, Kentucky. Nancy was b Ky, age 23. Her husband James Cook was age 26 b Ky. Their infant son James W Cook was aged 7 months. Also in the household was Joseph Cook, age 23 b Ky.[1]

James Cook and Nancy and their family were living in Montgomery County, Kentucky in 1860.

In 1870 James Cook was farming at Mudlick, Bath, Kentucky. James was aged 46 b Ky. Nancy was aged 45 b Ky. Son James W Cook was aged 20 and a blacksmith. Son John was age 16 and son Henry was age 14; they were farm hands. Son Benjamin was age 8 and son Charles was age 6; they were at home. B. Rayburn age 67 was a farm hand. Eda Ewing (black) age 17 was a house keeper.[3]

In 1880 Nancy G. Cook age 54 b Ky was living in Kenesaw, Adams, Nebraska. James Cook was age 55 b Ky and a blacksmith. Son Benjamin F Cook was age 18 b Ky. Son Charles L Cook was age 16 b Ky. Morris Weaver was age 26 b Canada.[4]

In 1900 she and James were living in Kenesaw Village, Adams, Nebraska. James was age 77 b Ky. Nancy was age 75, b. Ky.[5]
