John Gorman and Mary Reilly married on 08-Jul-1810 at ST.PAUL'S ARRAN QUAY Co. Dublin, Roman Catholic, Witnesses: Andrew Gorman, Rose Reilly, Parents names not given. Note John and Mary had children in Ireland and are not to be confused with the John Gorman and Mary Reilly who married in NSW linked to Johanna on some Ancestry trees. they are a different couple, he is John Gorman 1770-1842 Three Bees 1813

John was about 55 on arrival, no crime details available, born Meath County and convicted in Kildare.

Sentenced 13 July 1820 - In company of 3 others raided a house in Leixlip belonging to Robert Law and at gunpoint stole house linen ,table linen , wearing apparel , spoons etc etc ......daughter later identified him ,despite her being blind, as he was the one who pistol-whipped her[2]

  • Online sources state John and Mary had four children, Catherine, James, and in 1812 Johanna and John. St. Paul's, Dublin city index 1805-29 has a Catherine (different mother) , Johanna, 2 Johns no James This source states John snr was Born in Kildare, Ireland on 1766.

This source gives William 1755 as the father of James, 1810. There is a distant DNA link between a descendant of William via his son Bryan (WG) and a descendant of James (BG) *bj

    • Y-DNA pinpointing Meath or Kildare as a likely origin
