Oren S. Gorman Jr., age 85, passed away January 7, 2010, at Midlands Living Center.
Oren was born in Gypsy, Pa., on July 24, 1924, to Oren S. Gorman Sr. and Olive (Kinter) Gorman. Oren served his country in the United States Marine Corps 4th Division during W.W. II, and was a survivor of Iwo Jima.
On March 16, 1947, Oren married Joy Williams. During his working career, Oren was a Heavy Equipment Operator and Mechanic, last working at A.M. Cohran and Sons in Atlantic, Iowa, retiring in 1997. He was a life member of the 4th Marine Division.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and seven siblings. Survivors include his wife, Joy, of Council Bluffs; son, Ross and his wife, Cheryl, of Omaha; daughters, Dr. Linda Gorman, of Lexington, Ky., and Nina Duffy and her husband, Jerome, of Ft. Worth, Texas; granddaughter, Alison Duffy; and grandson, Ryan Duffy; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be Monday, 6 to 8 p.m., at the Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer- Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral services Tuesday, 11 a.m., also at funeral home. Interment Ridgewood Cemetery. Military rites and Chaplain will be handled by the US Marine Corps. Family will direct memorials.
