Ellen was born about 1822-1825.
She came out to Tasmania, Australia as a convict from Clerkenwell, Middlesex, aboard the Lloyds departed 29 July 1845. She had been tried in Surrey on 24 March 1845 for stealing 4 shirts and other articles. [1]
Her description was: 5' 3.75", age 23, fresh complexion, large head, brown hair, large visage, high forehead, brown eyebrows, grey hair, large nose, small mouth, large chin, native Clerkenwell, Roman Catholic, scar on rt wrist. [1]
She delivered an illegitimate child named Charles on 2 April 1849. [1]
On 16 April 1850 at Hamilton, Tasmania, Australia, she (25, servant) married Charles Cannell(26), another convict. [2]
She was granted freedom on 24 Mar 1852. [1]
She passed away 14 May 1867 at New Norfolk, age 45, due to abscess on the liver. Informed by Ellen Cannell, daughter. [3]
The convict record says the word "Married" in the Transported description but I am not sure if it is saying she was married. It also talks about being single with Wm Blackwell as husband, lived with for 2 years. (If someone can "translate" this better that would be great!)
