Hortense was born in 1884. She was the daughter of Owen Goslee and Emma Cowles. In the 1900 census I (age 16), At School, was the single daughter of Owen E Goslee in Windsor, Hartford, Connecticut.^[1]

Hortense married a Mr. Bacon. In the 1910 census Hortense (age 26) was the widowed daughter of Owen E Goslee in East Granby, Hartford, Connecticut, United States.^[2]

Hortense married George P. B. Alderman. In the 1920 census Hortense (age 36) was the wife of George P B Alderman in Holyoke Ward 7, Hampden, Massachusetts.^[3] Hortense and George were in the city directory at 52 Fairfield av, Holyoke, Massachusetts, in 1925.^[4] In 1928 they sailed on the Lapland from Antwerp, Belgium, arriving in New York October 8, 1928. In the 1930 census Hortense (age 46) was the wife of George P B Alderman in Fairfield Avenue, Holyoke, Hampden, Massachusetts, United States.^[5] In the 1940 census Hortense (age 56) was the wife of George Alderman in Holyoke, Hampden, Massachusetts.^[6]

Hortense (Goslee) Alderman was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Hortense was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Massachusetts, having national number 188726. Her patriot ancestor was Israel Hollister.

Hortense died in 1946 in Holyoke, Massachusetts, United States.^[7] She was buried at Forestdale Cemetery, Holyoke, Hampden County, Massachusetts.^[8]
