Cyril reportedly spent his early years farming with his father before purchasing his own farm next to his parent's property in Richmond. Both Cyril and his father were well known breeders of trotting horses of which "Tralee Rose" and "Robert Lawn" were the better known. After his father died Cyril and his mother carried on with the farms for a time, eventually selling the lovely old two storey house at Francis Street. They then lived at Toxana Street and after Priscilla died Cyril moved to 30 Faithful Street, Richmond.
His Death Notice reads:
"GOSPER, Cyril Edgar - June 13, 1983 (suddenly), of 30 Faithful Street, Richmond, loved son of late Benjamin and Priscilla Gosper, loved brother of Elma (Mrs. Winley), fond brother-in-law of Cecil, and loved uncle of Joy and Bill Taylor, Mark and Grant, aged 71 years". After a Service at St. Peter's Anglican Church, Richmond he was buried in the adjoining cemetery.
