Biography

George Goss was born in the Colony of South Australia (1836-1900)

George was born on the 20 October 1854 in the Suburb of North Adelaide, South Australia^[1]. He was the son of John Goss (a Mason/Builder) and Elizabeth Gooding. George (21) married Elizabeth Margaret Gammon (20) on the 4 January 1876 at the residence of Elizabeth's father, Thomas (Gammon), in the Town of Penola, about 388 square kilometres (150 sq mi) southeast of the state capital of Adelaide, Region of Coonawarra, in South Australia, Australia^[2]. During their marriage, the following children were born to them:--

1. Alice Elizabeth (Goss) Wilson, born 21 September 1876 in Adelaide, Adelaide, South Australia^[3];
2. Arthur George Egbert Goss, born 18 September 1878 in Parkside, Adelaide, South Australia^[4];
3. William Hurtler Cartree Goss, born 4 March 1881 in Parkside, Adelaide, South Australia^[5];
4. Olive Ellen (Goss) Hill, born 6 April 1883 in Emerald Hill, Melbourne, Victoria^[6]; and
5. Herbert Edwin Goss, born 14 August 1887 in Melbourne, Melbourne, Victoria^[7].

From 1903 to around 1907, Carpenter, George lived with wife Elizabeth Margaret and children at 319 Park Street, Emerald Hill, City of Melbourne (south), Victoria, Australia^[8]. We find George, in 1914, until his death in 1922, living with his family at "Gambierton," 7 Stewart street, Brunswick, City of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia^[9]. On the 1 December 1922, at his home, "Gambierton," 7 Stewart street, Brunswick, City of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, George passed away at the age of 68^[10]. He is interred on the 2 December 1922 in the Methodist portion, Section M; Grave 236 of the Brighton General Cemetery, North & Hawthorn Roads, Caulfield South, Glen Eira City, Victoria, Australia^[11][12].
